I really feel sorry for our legislators here in Montana- really. They come in for ninety days (only ninety days thank goodness!!) and they have to be experts on everything from finance to oil drilling and water quality to education. Education, which takes the lions share of our budgets and prepares our children to be the citizens that will run this country, is always a sleeper issue. Most people don't know what goes on in school so they are easily manipulated.
So who's competent to run our schools? Who's competent to run our cities? Who's competent to protect our environment? Who's competent to handle poverty? Who's competent to handle police and fire and disaster relief? Ask the experts- that's who testifies at the legislature for the most part. Their answer will always be the Federal Government- that's where those grants come from.But is the Federal Government really that much smarter than all of us? Do we really need the Federal Government to run our cities and schools, take care of our poor and rescue us in a disaster? Really? There was a day, not so long ago, when we handled our problems locally- hired our own teachers and police and firemen- even had county hospitals for the poor and county welfare programs too. This blog is about schools so I'll just address the train wreck of allowing Federal "experts" to run our schools.
The Common Core folks are pulling off an amazing propaganda feat. Working with legislators that don't know- they are telling them that they need "21st century skills taught for the new work world". It just so happens that those 21st century skills are the world peace ideas of the hippies- the same free school ideas they've been pushing since the 70's- open classrooms- collaboration- project learning- open ended questions. You have to ask - WHAT MAKES THESE SKILLS THE ONES THAT WILL PREPARE WORKERS FOR THE 21ST CENTURY?? These are skills that will definitely teach children to "question authority"- but will they teach children focus, responsibility,and discipline that are at the core of the work ethic? Will they teach the best of western civilization and all that has been created in literature and scientific thought?
Common Core,according to its own writers, IS TAKING INFORMATION OUT OF OUR CURRICULUMS.The Common Core folks disdain those fill in the bubble tests where you demonstrate that you actually have knowledge. They will determine what knowledge is when they grade those subjective group project answers. WOW. You will qualify for college and demonstrate your achievement levels in groups now if they get their way!
So there it is- Common Core advocates have convinced a fair number of unawares legislators that their world peace open classroom teaching is what the workers of tomorrow must have.The students of yesteryear are busy making new aps by the day- running the internet and developing things like google and Facebook. They are the lawyers and doctors and researchers that are discovering cures and new drugs and technology and prosthetic devices of all kinds. They didn't need the open classroom to become competent- they didn't need the federal government at all- maybe student loans helped but they could have gotten those at the bank in most cases.
Who's competent? WE ARE COMPETENT!!! WE DON'T NEED THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO RUN OUR SCHOOLS!! I HOPE OUR LEGISLATORS, THOUGH THEY ARE VERY BUSY IN THESE NINETY DAYS, WILL SIT DOWN AND THINK FOR A MINUTE WHAT A SCAM THESE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT RADICALS ARE RUNNING. I HOPE THEY WILL LEARN TO TRUST THEIR LOCAL EXPERTS AND TEACHERS AGAIN- THAT'S WHO'S COMPETENT!!!

NOT ONE BROKEN WINDOW
When New York City with all its liberals had finally had enough- they couldn't even walk in the streets anymore, panhandlers were everywhere-and filth and garbage and graffiti and crime- they had a police chief that decided they would not tolerate ONE BROKEN WINDOW. He realized that one broken window leads to others, and broken windows give a message about tolerance for destruction and crime. Our schools and our society need to go back, to go back to NOT ONE BROKEN WINDOW.
When I talk to teachers who are retiring this year, very sadly for me, they are not saying the usual"I love my kids it's just that darn administration"- they are saying IT IS THE KIDS!! The school board just says "kids have changed so we need to take EVERY federal grant and EVERY new social emotional program". Yes, kids have changed, but lets face it- they didn't come out of the womb that way!! It's not as if social emotional problems happen in the womb!!
When the Federal Government took over the schools in the 90's (The bureaucrats are finally ADMITTING it was Federal take over as they make excuses for Common Core "The Federal Government ALREADY HAS CONTROL SO IT'S NOTHING NEW!!), I was really upset about it because I knew what would happen. I said to myself well, I (and many others) couldn't stop this train wreck, but in twenty years we will know who was right about these federal programs. It's been twenty years and now teachers are retiring BECAUSE of the children.Even the school board liberal whackos admit- the children have changed- of course they can't see the correlation with what they've done and the discipline problems they have- I guess it's all the parents fault!!
I've spoken on this blog before about my time at the poorest school in our district, Bryant. I loved that school. For most of my time there we all- children,parents and teachers alike- respected each other. I taught kids self discipline and fortitude and focus- I taught them the skills they needed to climb the ladder of success- and the parents appreciated that. One of my parents from those days recently told me I "Changed her child's life- he learned to get organized and work hard and care about school". Today he's a successful nurse anesthetist and he passed out of his program with a four point!! I'm not a genius and I didn't have to use any fancy federal program. As teachers from forever- I just taught the good old American values- worked hard and loved my kids. It works. No matter what the snarky liberals think, it's really not that complicated and they and their beloved federal government really do not have all the answers. Not only don't they have all the answers, what they have done to our society and to our schools has not improved things- it has made things oh so much worse- teachers are now retiring BECAUSE of the children!! When the Federal Government brought in their "broken windows" to our school, discipline broke down and kids began to change over night. Children look to adults for leadership- if they are a victim they act like a victim - if they are an American rugged individual upon whom responsibility is inherent- they take their responsibility.When the water bottles and snacks came in the discipline went out. When the free lunch and free snacks and free coats and free school supplies and programs that interrupted the academic day took precedence- children's attitudes toward the value of their education and their responsibility within that discipline changed.
Liberals have been making fun of our successful American culture for a long time. I remember in Berkley how they would make fun of shows like Leave It To Beaver and The Donna Reed Show "because they were not realistic". Kids going home from school and seeing shows that gave them an ideal to strive for and showed them the best of what a healthy family would be like- modeled good behavior and good values for them- was "bad". I guess going home and watching MTV or playing kindergarten assassin on your computer is better. Modesty was out and now soft porn is in at the drugstore as basically naked women with huge breast implants frequent the covers of magazines and sell their sex to children and everyone else who comes into the store. Gee- I wonder why children have changed?"Free love" was in with the hippies- modesty and waiting for marriage was "so stifling", so "not sexually liberating". The hippies brought in the drug culture too- what's wrong with a little LSD it's all"cool man". And everything is relative- "Just because you have an intact family and your parents don't do drugs doesn't make your family any better!"
I'm just going to say this to the conservatives- quit being afraid of these whackos. NOT ONE BROKEN WINDOW!! Children will change when society changes! No porn at the grocery store- put it behind the counter if you have to have it and that definitely includes Cosmopolitan Magazine with the big breast girls on the cover. No half time shows at the Super Bowl where the actors have to use sex to attract because they have no talent. In school you cover up- no low tops- and boys can wait until college to grow their beards. No pregnant girls running around school- if you have to live your life that way I guess you'll just have to do Digital Academy or have a teacher come to your house. No graffiti anywhere- especially in the parking lot where the kids here in Helena are now allowed to paint their parking standards with graffiti- the graffiti came and then the garbage. No more relativity- there is good and bad and right and wrong-period. Things will change when the American population finally demands it - NOT ONE BROKEN WINDOW!!

SCHOOLS- A PLAYGROUND FOR GROWNUPS
Centralized governments don't work because they always get down to fighting for power and self interests- they always get dictatorial and corrupt. Our founders tried to protect states rights in our constitution for this reason. In the 10th amendment they left all powers not SPECIFICALLY DESIGNATED, to the states. They did not mention education for a very important reason- the states have that power- not the Federal Government.We should have realized in the 70's when the hippies started saying our schools were in crisis- that they wanted control of them. We should have realized when they wanted the FEDERAL DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION that this was because they wanted FEDERAL CONTROL of our schools. We should have listened to our founders but we didn't- and look where we are now- the playground for grown-ups.
As the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT has gotten control of our schools the percentage of the school budgets that have gone to salaries has increased dramatically (property taxes have increased dramatically as a consequence of this school spending).In Helena NINETY-TWO PERCENT of our elementary budgets goes to salaries and EIGHTY-EIGHT PERCENT of our high school budgets go to salary. Schools are labor intensive and have always had large salary costs- but not NINETY TWO PERCENT!!Helena is now planning to add MORE SALARIES. Yes, a FEDERAL program called Success will add ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY THOUSAND DOLLARS of NEW SALARY COSTS to our high school budgets- these Success Counselors (drug counselors) are now on a grant- but that grant is going away.That's how they work it - grants that go away and leave the local schools holding the costs ( as well as the school budgets having to afford matching money up front.) No one wants to LOSE THEIR JOB!! So- on it goes- the schools are the playground for grown-ups- everyone fighting over that MONEY!! We have many hard working and dedicated people working in our schools- but the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT- has made school budgets a grab fest for non-profits, special agendas, and programs of every sort. When I was teaching- and that was seven years ago now- it was beginning to feel like classroom teaching was a side light and the teachers were working for the non-profits!
We all know that unions get THEIR MONEY from salaries- not from benefits or a good working environment. So what do the unions WANT? THEY WANT MORE SALARIES- MORE WORKERS- AT HIGHER SALARIES.The children get lost in this whole thing- everyone fighting for the MONEY!! When I went to speak to the joint legislative committee on Common Core, I got maybe ten minutes- as an after thought. Silver Back Technology that wants to get into all that Common Core money- got ONE AND ONE HALF HOURS!! I was just the public without a money interest- why didn't I just go away? There's business to do and I was just gumming up the works!! Who cares about the kids anymore?
Teachers are afraid to speak up- sometimes even afraid to speak to me in public.They have to support the program- go along. It's all about the paycheck. That's it period. Don't think, don't question, and don't worry about what's going on- just shut up and you'll be on the right side of things. Our patriotism and sometimes even our morals ( sex education for example) are put aside for job security. The FEDERAL GOVERNMENT has us all over a barrel. Sometimes I go to Home Town Helena at the Montana Club here- one time I spoke there. It was very quiet. These are business leaders- their only goal is to stay on the right side of things and get their share of the MONEY. Who was worried about the children or what was RIGHT for our schools? THE DEMOCRAT CREED
What is the Democrat Creed? The Democrat Creed is that they are for "change" and that the Republicans are rich people that are narrow minded and racist, reactionary to change. Have you ever been around when the conservatives try to get change and the "tolerant" left goes nuts? Let's see- how about no more abortions- let's change Roe Vs. Wade - OH NO!! We can't have THAT change. How about changing school board elections to primary day so everyone can vote and we will have decently secure elections? OH NO!! We would have to let the military vote in school elections then and you know- what a pain- we'd have to send out ballots early. But I thought you were for change? How about getting rid of the DARE program because it's been around for forty years or more and IT DOESN'T WORK!! OH NO!!Why not? Well it's a federal government program and WE CAN NEVER GET RID OF ONE OF THOSE!!! Hmmm- I thought you were the party of change? Maybe you're just the party of counter culture that hasn't had a new idea for SIXTY YEARS!!
If you've been around education as long as I have you really see what frauds and screw ups these people are. They are
reaching their golden ring here in many ways- they finally have control of schools and healthcare in their grasp- they may even get community hubs instead of schools and get kids from birth until they are out in the work world (20 years of age!!).WOW!! But does Bill Ayers have any new ideas? NO. He has some new players like Jeb Bush but what he wants is still the same-"collaboration" ( how many times do you have to do the same thing that doesn't work- isn't that the definition of insanity?) We all remember free schools- the open concept run around and do what you want type thing. OH YES- and no one would want to forget that they want NO GRADES, NO COMPETITION ( GET RID OF FOOTBALL- WHAT A RUGGED INDIVIDUAL GAME THAT IS!!). Have you all seen those bumper stickers that say challenge authority? Yes, that's these folks - no change at all- sixty years later and kids are supposed to "accept guidance"!! These counter culture types would NEVER want children to respect AUTHORITY.Children are led to believe they should respect everyone and everyone should respect them- but NO ONE needs to respect the TEACHER - just accept guidance!!!
So the left creates the problems and then they create the programs to "fix" their problems. Kind of like the new wolf hunts we have to pay for- we didn't have to hunt wolves before all the leftist meddling that introduced wolves to places they had never been before.In the early nineties they took away our Iowa Basics tests which were national and went to standards based criterion referenced tests which were only compared on a state level. Now we MUST have Common Core because we NEED a National test. What?? You took away our national tests with your stupid standards based curriculums under the Clinton's Goals 2000. Well- I guess what we were already doing was right BUT YOU DIDN'T CONTROL IT SO IT WAS BAD!!! Power and Money- that's what it always gets down to.
The Dare program has INCREASED drug usage across the nation- now we need billions of dollars and multiple programs to supposedly clean up that mess. In Helena we are adding "success counselors" ( these are drug counselors)- 3 of them for $140,000.00.The women's movement told us that mom's HAD to work- well that leaves the schools to do daycare and you can pay for it.You can pay for their breakfast and lunch too- so much to do - so little time.

INSIGHT
INSIGHT was a magazine I subscribed to many years ago before 9/11. Every week they would tell me- replete with PICTURES- about the terrorists training to fly airplanes. They would report on al Qaeda training camps right here on U.S.soil. Why wasn't anything done about this? If INSIGHT magazine knew about this- certainly the C.I.A. would have known. INSIGHT magazine warned of imminent attacks in the U.S.- but no one paid any attention and eventually the magazine went out of business.No one listens. The country is in MORE THAN SIXTEEN TRILLION DOLLARS OF DEBT AND IS BORROWING FORTY CENTS OF EVERY DOLLAR THEY SPEND- get it- WE HAVE TO STOP SPENDING!! The same thing happens at school board meetings. I feel this ALERT!! ALERT!! American public schools are being torn apart and will be destroyed!! Red light!! Hold up!! But no one listens.
One board member CRIED ( I needed emergency medical help- I was getting sick- but I hung in there - sometimes these meetings are almost TOO MUCH!!). She cried over the children singing the Obama inauguration song "Build me a world where there's hope for children- to grow with no poverty, no hatred or war. - We'll share all our promises the rich and the poor." WHAT UNIVERSE IS THIS LADY LIVING IN - HER POLITICS ARE DESTROYING THE ECONOMY AND OUR GOVERNMENTS FISCAL RESOURCES- WHEN THIS BLOWS UP POVERTY WILL BE EVERYWHERE!!! Poverty is alleviated when people have jobs such as our once vibrant economy in our once strong country provided.Children have a future when they are safe and businesses will invest because they are in a secure country that will not steal their resources.Children have hope when they have at least DECENT schools. The new Common Core is a HUGE DISASTER THAT WILL FAIL. But worse than that- the structure and traditions that WAS those schools is being dismantled.

She listed- focus-follow directions- stay on task-raise hand to speak - physically stay with the group- share attention- and "accept guidance"- I think that means respecting authority- but among these people respect is a big deal all day long, they even sing about it- but they would never dare say RESPECT AUTHORITY!!You see in their relativist world we're all the same- just like America is no better than any other country. See how that works? It doesn't work so good for kids.But back to the skills- let's compare the skills CHILDREN MUST HAVE to the learning environments Common Core is setting up.
Common Core wants COLLABORATION- remember focus and stay on task- how do little children focus in this adult environment- most adults would start having a gab fest left to their own resources.Common Core wants OPEN CONCEPT LEARNING- this means all the kids in one big room-adults can't focus in this carnival type environment.Does the crier think she's giving children a CHANCE much less HOPE of focussing in this crazy environment. Remember follow directions and "accept guidance"- in project learning the instructions are given once and the children are on their own to remember. Many adults would have trouble remembering directions over time like this - and what guidance when the children are supposedly teaching each other?? The worst is the old hippie "open ended questions". If you have very little knowledge and very little guidance and directions- how do you come up with answers to open ended questions?? In the best scenario with very on task children the teacher can guide open ended type DISCUSSIONS- but why put children in such defeating situations? On top of all this they test pre and post. What could be more unfair and frustrating for a child than to test him on something he hasn't been taught yet?
The new Common Core math is all about "higher level" thinking skills- putting off actual skill teaching as children try to understand concepts in ADULT comprehension capacities. But even worse than this- the amount of time children have to learn is being eroded daily with "school business partnerships", "breakfast and snacks", "running", "the MBI program (teach peace)" the "buddy program", "community service" and so on and on it goes- the disaster drills themselves take large portions of learning time with lock downs and national disaster- along with the traditional fire and earthquake several times a year- and of course DARE at every grade level, and animal rights and recycling assemblies and the artist in residency and children leaving for special programs like Big Sisters, Big Brothers- I've just scratched the surface here. And then constant testing for Aims Web or Success and so on- the teacher tries to test while the other kids are on their own.This is nuts- and it's certainly not the hope for tomorrow. ALERT!! ALERT!! THIS IS INSIGHT CALLING- IS ANYONE LISTENING?!!

STOP THIS TRAIN WE WANT TO GET OFF !!!
Friedrich Hayek, a capitalist and an economist, wrote a book many years ago- it was called THE ROAD TO SERFDOM.Friedrich knew that if you let the state control the economy everyone would be poor and controlled. Friedrich Hayek was right. America is barreling down that road to serfdom- not just in a car-we're in a high speed train.
What is a serf? A serf is poor like a peasant, but he is also controlled and has no property and no power.That's where people like the Obama's would like to take all of us- except them of course- somebody has to make decisions for all those serfs!!My wise daughter made a comment one time many years ago and it has always stuck with me- it was about the schools offering daycare- she said"If you pay for your own daycare you only pay one time, but if the state pays for your daycare you pay for daycare the rest of your life". That's right-long after your children are grown and gone you'll still be paying for daycare.Long after your children are grown and gone the state will still be deciding what daycare people can have and at what price too.
Our schools take about 70% of your property taxes and the lion's share of your state income taxes.Here in Helena the school board will be proposing a bond for about ONE HUNDRED AND FIVE MILLION DOLLARS!!It will cost every homeowner seven dollars a year per $100,000 of taxable property per $10,000,000.00 of bond DEBT. That's about $140.00 a year for the average home.Add that on top of the levy of course. When we first moved into our house 35 years ago we paid around $500.00 a year in property taxes- now we pay at least FIVE TIMES that!! Remember- every levy is FOREVER- the levy the next year is added on top of the one the year before and so on- that's why your property taxes keep going up. But back to the bond- the ONE HUNDRED AND FIVE MILLION DOLLAR bond will not cover operating expenses. Since staff account for about 90% of the budget in Helena you can expect to pay twice that$140.00 to keep the general fund going.Some of the teachers will be moved but there will be new staff as well ,and then all of the maintenance staff, and of course new program staff which our board member from AWARE wants the schools to pay for.And remember- this is NOT PAID FOR- THIS IS BORROWED MONEY WHICH PUTS OUR SCHOOLS IN THE INSECURITY OF DEBT FOR A VERY LONG TIME. What if the property base goes down? Will we have to close schools or fire teachers to pay the debt payments?
If you go to one of these meetings you realize what serfs we really are compared to these mighty titans that spend our money. I brought up the AWARE conflict of interest- a board member representing his own company- in a public testimony, but the newspaper completely ignored my statement. As far as they were concerned there was no public testimony that night. Just sit down, shut up,and pay.
I had the "pleasure" of going to a joint legislative committee hearing on our new national curriculum COMMON CORE just yesterday. After three and a half hours of sitting and listening to all the nonsense "we will have project based collaborative learning"- oh but we will also teach every child individually as we look at their profile on the computer everyday to see if they are meeting the COMMON CORE REQUIREMENTS -I thought determining if children understand something was called GRADING THE PAPERS!!- I had to raise my hand and ask if I could make a public comment- I just got under the gavel.Here I was- up against Bill Gates hundreds of millions that he paid out to propagandize everyone (do you think Jeb Bush has actually read Common Core?) and public employees whose full time job is just to support Common Core- along with all the resources they need for that purpose- and tech companies there to help Bill Gates make his billions. I was just a pesky flea they felt obligated to listen to. A couple of legislators seemed a little interested in what I had to say- after all- they don't even know what Common Core is and they only get one heck of a lying sales job as their source of information. One legislator seemed irritated- I kind of liked that because that meant I hit a target. Bill Gates had already paid to bring all these legislators to Washington for conferences- wined and dined and propagandized- he owns them.
When you let your government get too big, as we have done, you lose complete control of it.Bureaucrats will make decisions for you and your family and micromanage everything you do- have you seen the articles about the Sandy storm victims in New York trying to get the privilege to rebuild their homes? Do you feel a little afraid of the government- like you just hope to stay below the radar?That's because you are a serf. But you haven't lost your standard of living YET- that is most certainly coming as our economy is being destroyed and the voracious government is looking for new taxes on YOU- consumption taxes on everything from the gas you put in your car to the interest you get at the bank. Recent articles are quoting erstwhile democrats like Dick Durbin as saying "We have to tax the middle class"- wait a minute Dick- Nancy said you were STRENGTHENING the middle class!! Do you think they're lying to you? I guess it's about the same as them having the same health care we have- remember Obama saying that one?
Government grows and people lose.Our forefathers gave us a constitution to protect our freedom- our right to help ourselves-our right to own our own property and not have it taken from us. Under the new central planning your children will not even be able to go to college unless some unnamed bureaucrat passes them on the Common Core subjective questions assessment and their college will not be able to get students, because the federal government controls all student loans now, unless the federal government approves of everything they do including what they teach and who they hire.
Liberals think they can do every service in the world and make the perfect person- no matter how poor they are.NO THEY CAN'T. Remember that the individual who killed all those people in Aurora, Colorado, was a DOCTORATE STUDENT.The Sandy Hook individual was far from poor.Most of us started out poor and used our freedom to build a life.YES WE CAN TAKE CARE OF OURSELVES- THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!In my view institutions for the mentally ill and stopping the drugs that come over our borders will do more to stop these incidents than more government programs and non- psychologists offering mental health to every innocent student- ESPECIALLY- Programs that offer suicide and drug prevention and inevitably INCREASE the problem by the POWER OF SUGGESTION!!

THE COMPLIANT MEDIA
I watched Nancy Pelosi shake her fist on the House floor and declare that she was "strengthening the middle class". WHAT?!!! The media did not call her out on this. The media have a little narrative that they want you to believe and tearing apart leftist lies is not part of that narrative. Essentially, they want you to vote for democrats so they go along with the lies and manipulations of the left. Kind of like the old soviet days when there was not truth in the press- just propaganda that the government wanted you to believe.Nancy is not strengthening the middle class, she is robbing them blind.It wasn't so long ago that the left were for the "poor"- they must have done a poll and found people responded better to "middle class". The press doesn't call them out on this slight of hand either. The liberal left can make it up as they go along- the press doesn't mind.
As Nancy's Environmental Protection Agency destroys jobs of all kinds from natural resource industries to small businesses that are taxed to death and strangled by government regulations and red tape,she increases the cost of everything the middle class needs to buy from gasoline to groceries to the heat they need to heat their houses.This is NOT strengthening the middle class Nancy.The press knows that we have to pay for heating assistance and green energy out of our heating bills,thereby increasing the cost for everyone, including the middle class. They know that the EPA is closing coal powered electric generating plants, thereby making it more expensive to heat your home. The press knows that the government is PRINTING MONEY (quantitative easing) and that this will ultimately cause huge inflation in everything you buy. They know that Obama's health care plan will cause your health care costs to go up as health insurance policies and medical equipment are taxed.Somebody's got to pay for 15,000 IRS agents who will enforce you having to buy insurance. The press knows the fiscal cliff is coming. America will default.The press just does not want to tell the story. It is no wonder that Speaker Boehner told Harry Reid to do something anatomically impossible to himself. Obama wanted more money to spend and WOULD NOT CUT ANYTHING!! The press did not want to tell that story. Their story was that the Republicans just did not want to tax the rich! If we start cutting now people will lose government jobs, government supported jobs (grants) and benefits and there will be pain, if we don't cut now EVERYONE will ultimately lose and the pain will be unfathomable.That is where Obama is taking this country.The press does not want to tell this story.The press wants you to think that losing government jobs and government supported jobs is a catastrophe, but losing jobs in the private sector for no reason, as in the San Joaquin Valley where they turned off the water and farmers and farm workers lost their jobs, does not matter- ditto for oil drilling and timbering jobs and so on.

They are so confident that the press will cover for them that they call things the opposite of what they are. ALEC makes it sound as if COMMON CORE IS GIVING THE STATES THEIR RIGHTS OVER EDUCATION!! A National Curriculum- with national testing- is now considered to be supporting "states rights"!! As I said before- it's no wonder that Speaker Boehner told Harry Reid to do something to himself that is anatomically impossible!! Low information voters are choosing our leaders for us and the press is directing the false story- GOD HELP US.
The lies are breathtaking but the people that do it are confident that they will not be held to task. They are so confident that the press will cover for them that they call everything the opposite of what it is. If they want to control you they call it "freedom" or "states rights". ALEC which is an organization that advises legislators just came out for Common Core (surprise, surprise). I wonder what THEIR payoff was- but no matter- here is what they said, "The decision to adopt Common Core is one that each state should have the liberty to make." WHAT?!!! Of course states can adopt any curriculum they want - the Federal Government has NO AUTHORITY OVER PUBLIC EDUCATION IN THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!! ALEC makes it sound (and they are doing this deliberately) as if COMMON CORE IS GIVING THE STATES THEIR STATES RIGHTS OVER EDUCATION!!
